GVA Travel Assistance

GVA was established in 1998 in Cyprus. In 1999, the Russian Alarm Centre was opened in Moscow (Russia). In 2008, the Odessa (Ukraine) operation was launched. Today thanks to the presence of these two alarm centres in two different jurisdictions combined with a carefully selected network of agents in the capital and major cities of the 15 FSU independent states GVA is able to offer a unique and entire coverage of the whole region regardless of any geo-political situation.

GVA works as a correspondent for many major assistance and insurance partners when they are in need for a local expertize for servicing their clients. All GVA Doctors and Coordinators speak English fluently. More than 15 other languages are spoken by our team members.

GVA as an independent assistance company can refer a patient to a clinic or a medical professional that would be the best local choice in the given medical situation. Within two decades of activity, the GVA Network Department has created a network of 11,000 providers in the FSU that includes both government and private medical facilities, dental centres, ambulances and pharmacies. GVA arrange cashless services through direct billing.

GVA Doctors can evaluate the appropriateness of treatment and assess the need for medical transportation (evacuation or repatriation). GVA’s professional coordination of any case enables the final payer to have a comprehensive understanding of events. Travel Assistance & TPA
GVA Alarm Centres are licensed to provide medical transportations. GVA ICU Medical Teams consist of carefully selected ICU Physicians and Nurses and are covered by an international malpractice insurance. We fly around the Globe and provide bed-to-bed solutions. Every year, GVA performs on average 200 medical evacuations by both regular flights and air ambulance.

We can also assist with non-medical issues of international travellers such as stolen or lost documents, provision of cash advance, legal referrals, “concierge” services, roadside services and translation support in critical situations.

Global Voyager Assistance (GVA) is here to help you with all healthcare and travel needs for your clients in the Former Soviet Union.

Third Party Administration (TPA)

GVA handles payment of medical claims for members/policyholders to doctors, clinics and hospitals for Travel Insurance and International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) programmes. We have developed efficient and fast ways of settling medical claims (payments) for our customers. Our unique approach allows us to choose alternative and cost efficient healthcare providers in the FSU for the TI and IPMI clients of GVA.

GVA’s specialized Claims Handling Department has professional in-house expertise to assess medical claims from any facility in any region. Our claim adjusters make sure that invoices for our patients clearly show the breakdown of the medical services provided, whilst the Doctor’s assessment verifies that the billing is in consistency with the diagnosis and the patient’s medical history. With the ability to settle payments in 30 different world currencies, GVA is the ideal and transparent partner for both Travel Insurance and IPMI.

Fraud Investigation

To respond to the growing number of insurance scams, GVA has established the in-house Fraud Investigation Unit (FIU) that involves our security, medical and legal services. We take special care to check, investigate and ensure that the medical facility that issued an invoice is real and legitimate and is the one that provided the medical services invoiced.

Cost Containment

When facing inflated medical bills, we negotiate better rates on behalf of the final payer by reviewing the itemization (“auditing”) of the final bills and renegotiating item cost in order to bring the final medical expenses to what is reasonable and customary to pay. The process is handled with GVA’s precise knowledge of the cost of healthcare in a given location and the standard of the facility where the medical services were provided.
