GVA specialists helped to organize the repatriation of a patient with burns from Brazil to the Philippines

The shipowner contacted Global Voyager Assistance regarding assistance for a Filipino seafarer who was disembarked from the vessel and hospitalized in Rio de Janeiro with second-degree burns.

The organization of transportation was complicated not only because of the patient extensive burns, but also due to the continuing restrictions on air traffic caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic. The professional team performing this task was required to constantly coordinate all ground and air services in the cities which the repatriation was carried out through. The complicated flight got over four continents, and after its completion an immediate return transportation of the accompanying doctor was organized.

Thanks to the hard work of all the parties concerned, the seafarer safely landed in Manila in stable condition and was hospitalized for further treatment.
